At two weeks old, Keira was diagnosed with craniosynostosis &ndash; a condition in which one or more of the fibrous joints between the bones of a baby&rsquo;s skull close prematurely, before the brain can fully form. The condition can cause eye and ear problems, spine problems, breathing problems, and without early intervention there may be development delays.&nbsp; Thankfully, Keira received treatment early at HSC Winnipeg Children&rsquo;s Hospital.
Keira has had a total of 12 specialists at HSC Children&rsquo;s supporting her care over the years. She&rsquo;s had three additional surgeries to help with hearing and breathing when she was three and five years old, and a bone graft to her skull when she was eight years old. &nbsp;She is thankful for all the support she receives at HSC Children&rsquo;s Hospital, which has allowed her to continue being an active child enjoying dance, gymnastics, and piano. The annual Miracle Maker Award recognizes a franchisee that goes above and beyond in their support of their fundraising efforts and dedication to support local children&rsquo;s hospitals.
Jayne and her DQ location are a pillar in the community. In 2022, she increased her fundraising by 140% in support of McMaster Children&rsquo;s Hospital Foundation through Miracle Treat Day and many other Children&rsquo;s Miracle Network fundraising activities like the Teddy Bear Drive, making her a deserving recipient of this year&rsquo;s award.
Jayne continuously sets the bar for raising awareness and has truly made fundraising a part of her passion that she shares with her staff and community.&nbsp; Each year, Jayne personally funds a Miracle Treat Day event for her community, including t-shirts for volunteers, race cars, bouncy castles, and more. In addition to on-site fundraising, she also personally delivers Blizzards to local businesses who pre-order Blizzards on MTD. She also inspires her friends, family, employees and past staff to get involved in this important cause.
&ldquo;We look forward to making Miracle Treat Day bigger and better every year,&rdquo; Jayne says. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m so proud of what our community has achieved in supporting this cause. We love what we do, and it wouldn&rsquo;t be possible without my amazing team.&rdquo;

2022 Miracle Maker Award Winner

Congratulations to Michael Liber and his DQ Crew and Fans for raising $1 million for the Stollery Children&rsquo;s hospital in Alberta. Michael is a leader in supporting local children&rsquo;s hospitals, being awarded DQ&rsquo;s Top Western Fundraiser annually for over 10 years running. Michael has also been the recipient of the Stollery Children&rsquo;s Hospital Foundations &ldquo;Golden Blizzard Spoon Award&rdquo; for the past two years for being the top local franchisee fundraiser for the past 10 years.
 
&ldquo;Sherwood Park is an incredibly supportive and generous community when it comes to raising money for important causes. I&rsquo;m also fortunate to work with a team whose dedication to fundraising is unwavering. I could not have done this without them,&rdquo; said Liber.
